The Virginia School for the Deaf and the Blind (VSDB) is located in the historic, vibrant city of Staunton, Virginia. VSDB provides superior education for students who are deaf/hard of hearing, blind/vision impaired, deafblind, and deaf or blind with other disabilities.

About this position
The Virginia School for the Deaf and the Blind is seeking an Executive Administrative Assistant.
This is a classified position with state benefits, including health insurance, retirement, life insurance and disability coverage.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience providing administrative support and customer service in a professional office setting.

Experience with planning, coordination, and execution of meetings and events.

Training and/or experience in office management.

Proficiency level of “Intermediate” in American Sign Language as measured by the Sign Communication Proficiency Interview or agreement to acquire the specified level within three years.

Advanced knowledge of computer software programs to include Google Suite and Microsoft Office Suite.

Demonstrated effective communication skills in both written and spoken English to articulate and exchange information.

Ability to comprehend, interpret and follow policies and procedures.

Ability to maintain confidential information.

Ability to compose, edit and proof a wide range of written materials, memorandums, letters, reports and presentations accurately and reliably.

Ability to coordinate and manage non-routine, complex projects and assignments with minimal supervision.

Ability to work independently and using a team approach.

Effective interpersonal skills in order to represent the agency in a positive and professional manner.

Detailed-oriented and flexible.

Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and multi-task, strong organizational skills.

Ability to work independently and using a team approach .

Physical Requirements:

Ability to perform repetitive motion to include standing, sitting, reaching, lifting, walking and bending.

Additional Considerations

Associate’s degree, certification in office administration or related field or equivalent experience preferred.
Training and/or experience in office management
