Jobs in this group are typically responsible for managing and operating laboratory facilities used for research, teaching, or to assist in the diagnosis, treatment and/or prevention of disease. They ensure equipment maintenance, adhere to safety protocols, and support quality control.
These roles focus on performing a range of operational activities in support of laboratory testing, including managing lab equipment, ensuring proper safety protocols, and supporting research and experiments. Responsible for maintaining lab functionality and efficiency.
Represents people leaders (hire/fire authority) with majority of time spent overseeing their area of responsibility. Achieve goals through direct and/or indirect reports.
Supervises support level employees. Sets goals and objectives for other employees within the Job Area. Develops solutions to a variety of routine problems, and escalates more complex issues to higher-level managers. Ensures policies, practices, and procedures are understood and followed by direct reports.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Clinical Laboratory Scientist
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Compliance with the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act & Amendments (CLIA)
Experience: 3 years relevant experience
License/Certification: Medical Technologist or categorical, ASCP or equivalent
OR
Histotechnologist/Histotechnician
Education: Bachelor’s Degree, Associate’s Degree or High School Equivalency and education credits in Compliance with the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act & Amendments (CLIA) criteria for General Supervisor.
Experience: 3 years relevant experience for Bachelor’s Degree, 3 years relevant experience for Associate’s Degree plus valid Histology Supervisor state license or 5 years relevant experience for HS diploma plus minimum CLIA required education credits.
License/Certification: HT HTL, ASCP or equivalent preferred (such as valid Histology Supervisor state issued license)
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Job requires sitting, standing for prolonged periods, frequently traveling, bending/stooping and reaching (overhead, extensive, repetitive); Repetitive motion: computer use. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 20 - 50lbs. May be exposed to fumes, chemicals, noise, radiation (in limited specific areas), blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
Position Compensation Range: $66,528.00 - $133,057.00 Annual
