Job Description:
Reynolds is one of the largest community colleges in Virginia and serves Virginia’s capital city and five nearby counties. Annually, our four campus sites serve approximately 13,000 credit students and provide training for 7,400 students through the Community College Workforce Alliance. Reynolds Community College is seeking a detail-oriented and student-focused Scholarship Office Assistant to support the daily operations of the Scholarship Office. This role provides front-line assistance to students, supports scholarship processing, and contributes to donor stewardship efforts within the Development Office.

The role includes, but is not limited to the following duties:

  • Serve as the first point of contact for the Scholarship Office by assisting students in person, over the phone, and by email.
  • Respond to general inquiries and route more complex issues to the Scholarship Manager.
  • Use the Student Information System (SIS) to help students understand and access their award funding.
  • Conduct mid-year reviews in SIS to ensure scholarship recipients remain enrolled in the major identified at the time of awarding.
  • Access and work within the Community Force scholarship management system to help process approximately 1,000 scholarship applications annually.
  • Process student agreements and payment requests for emergency grants and loans.
  • Enter and maintain data in the Scholarship Office database and update shared spreadsheets with the Financial Aid Office.
  • Organize and record checks from the Business Office for private scholarship funds.
  • Process student reimbursements, including those related to Walmart/NCLEX exams, tuition, fees, and textbooks.
  • Support donor stewardship activities, including administrative tasks and special projects managed by the Development Office.
Minimum Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of administrative and office support procedures, and exceptional customer service practices and principles.
  • Working knowledge of and skill in the use of computer software in the areas of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Outlook and the internet.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply policies and procedures; provide high level of customer service to a variety of audiences; and to greet the public in a consistently pleasant manner. Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret data; work independently; and provide efficient service to customers. Demonstrated ability to communicate and work effectively with multi-cultural populations that support diversity, cultural understanding and inclusion. 

Additional Considerations:

Current or recent experience working in a busy and fast-paced office environment preferred.
