Reynolds is seeking a Simulation/e-Tech (Sim/e-Tech) Support Technician. The Simulation/e-Tech (Sim/e-Tech) provides critical support to the School of Health Professions by coordinating and operating educational and simulation technologies used across allied health programs. This position collaborates with faculty to manage simulation rooms, execute scenarios, maintain simulation equipment, and support e-learning assessment platforms. The Sim/e-Tech ensures proper setup, functionality, and upkeep of all simulation and laboratory technology, contributing to the strategic and instructional goals of the School and the College.

The role includes, but is not limited to the following duties:

  • Prepare simulation and lab environments by setting up equipment, mannequins, audio/visual components, and simulation props to ensure readiness for scheduled learning activities.
  • Program and calibrate simulation mannequins and automated medication dispensing systems to align with planned scenarios.
  • Support faculty during simulation activities by running or assisting with scenario execution, ensuring technical elements function as intended.
  • Review simulation case files in advance to understand objectives, scripts, equipment requirements, and flow; ask clarifying questions as needed.
  • Reset simulation rooms post-scenario by cleaning mannequins and equipment, changing linens, restocking supply carts, and restoring default room layouts.
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and inventory control in the simulation supply room; rotate stock and check expiration dates regularly.
  • Collaborate with the School’s Administrative Professional to request supplies, schedule repairs, and manage equipment servicing.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and perform minor repairs on simulation equipment, computers, monitors, and clinical technology.
  • Contact external vendors or service providers as needed for equipment support or replacement.
  • Train and provide technical support to faculty and staff in the use of simulation technology and e-learning platforms.
  • Apply moulage techniques, including creating realistic wounds or fluids for scenarios.
  • Stay current with simulation-related best practices, equipment manuals, vendor catalogs, and professional development opportunities.
  • Participate in relevant professional development activities, workshops, and industry events to enhance knowledge and skills.
  • Assist with setup and operation of other educational or simulation-related events as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of the simulation and skills lab environments.
Minimum Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
  • Associate’s degree.
  • Proficiency with both PC and Mac operating systems.
  • Demonstrated experience with computer systems, technical troubleshooting, and user support.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal) with the ability to work collaboratively and effectively with faculty, staff, students, and external vendors.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude to operate, maintain, and troubleshoot simulation equipment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to manage multiple tasks, maintain accurate records, and ensure timely completion of projects.
  • Commitment to maintaining the confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new technologies quickly.
  • Capability to communicate technical information clearly and in plain language to non-technical audiences.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Physical ability to lift, move, and set up computers, audio-visual equipment, and simulation lab components weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance.
Additional Considerations:

  • Prefer 3 - 5 years of related experience in the Information Technology field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology and human anatomy/physiology.
  • Clinical background or experience in a healthcare-related field such as EMT, paramedic, or other allied health profession, including relevant certification and training.
