Job Duties

The Virginia department of Veteran services is seeking an experienced Women's Veteran Liaison.  The Women Veterans Program in Virginia was established to ensure that the unique needs of women who have served in the military are fully recognized, respected, and addressed. Given that Virginia has the highest percentage of women veterans per capita in the United States, this role was created to connect women veterans with critical resources in areas such as health care, education, employment, and community support. The program is designed to provide advocacy, elevate visibility, and foster empowerment through dedicated outreach efforts and partnerships across the state. Ultimately, the position helps ensure that women veterans receive equitable access to benefits and opportunities, while honoring their service and contributions. 

Minimum Qualifications

-Proven ability to advocate for women veterans, ensuring equitable access to comprehensive support services across the Commonwealth

-Skills in coordinating and integrating state, local, and federal resources to broaden program reach and enhance service delivery

-Expertise in designing and executing initiatives related to transition, employment, education, and wellness for targeted populations

-Demonstrate capability to develop and lead training programs for adult learners, particularly in transition readiness and career development

-Ability to create and manage services tailored to military-affiliated and underserved communities, addressing unique barriers and needs

-Strong organizational skills with the capacity to oversee multiple programs and projects simultaneously in fast-paced environments

-Proficiency in collecting, analyzing, and reporting data to drive strategic planning, performance measurement, and continuous improvement

-Familiarity with administering websites, databases, and digital systems that support operational efficiency and program tracking

-Leadership skills to apply supervisory principles in team management, staff development, and performance evaluation

-Thorough understanding of human resources, procurement, and budget administration to guide operational decision-making

-Experience building and sustaining partnerships with employers, educational institutions, nonprofits, service organizations, healthcare partners, and workforce development entities

-Commitment to ensuring compliance with agency policies while upholding high standards of accountability and service excellence

Additional Considerations

Experience in social services, business, public administration, education or combination of education and job experience. research, public policy, public administration, business, or related field or equivalent experience. Additional Considerations: Prior project management or leadership experience. Prior public speaking experience.
